Report: San Francisco Giants to Interview Ex-Phillies Manager Gabe Kapler
The San Francisco Giants are scheduled to interview Gabe Kapler for the team's manager job, MLB Network's Jon Heyman reported on Saturday.
According to Heyman, team president Farhan Zaidi developed a strong relationship with Kapler when he was interviewing for the Dodgers' job in 2015.
The Giants are looking to fill their manager spot following Bruce Bochy's retirement after 25 years with the team.
Kapler was fired by the Phillies on Thursday after going 161–163 in two seasons as the team's manager. He was hired in October 2017 after previous manager Pete Mackanin was reassigned to a front-office role with the Phillies.
The Phillies finished this season fourth in the NL East at 81–81 but posted a 12–16 mark in September.
Kapler played 12 MLB seasons and won the 2004 World Series with the Red Sox. He was a career .268 hitter with six teams from 1998-2010.
