Saturday will be the third time in the last five years the Astros and Yankees have met in the postseason. Houston won the 2015 AL Wild Card Game at Yankee Stadium and then outlasted the Yankees in the 2017 ALCS, during which the home team won every game.

The Astros won the season series from the Yankees, 4-3, in the regular season. The Astros swept the Yankees in April before losing three of four in the Bronx in June, though both teams were missing several key players with injuries along the way.

While the Yankees showed their offensive determination over the three games vs. Twins, no one was better than Gleyber Torres. The 22-year-old hit .417 (5-for-12) with three doubles, a homer and four RBIs. The only member of the Yankees' Opening Day lineup not to land on the injured list this year, Torres slugged 38 homers during the regular season, becoming the second-youngest Yankee behind Joe DiMaggio to hit at least 30.

Houston relied on Gerrit Cole in Game 2 and 5 to help get them to the ALCS. Cole improved to 18-0 in his last 24 starts by striking out 10 batters and allowing two hits, including one homer–a leadoff shot by Eric Sogard in the second inning–over eight innings on Thursday for the win. Cole has recorded double-digit strikeouts in each of his last 11 starts to continue his incredible run of dominance.

Jose Altuve has been on fire during the playoffs and passed Chase Utley for the most home runs by a second baseman in playoff history. He crushed his 11th of his postseason career with a solo shot off Emilio Pagan in the eighth inning of the Astros' 6–1 win over the Rays.
