In his first season with the Athletics, veteran infielder Jace Peterson made perhaps the catch of the year thus far on Saturday.

With two outs and no runners on base, Rangers center fielder Leody Taveras sent a James Kapriellian offering deep down the left field line. The ball took Peterson deep into foul territory leading the third baseman all the way into the Oakland bullpen area.

While on a full sprint, Peterson made an over-the-shoulder basket catch as he went over the warmup mound and tumbling over the bullpen wall.

Despite hitting just .205 in the month of May and his club owning the worst record in the league (9–31) in the majors heading into Saturday, the 11-year veteran put his body on the line to turn in one of the best web gems of the MLB season.

The Athletics, who have posted dismal 4–16 mark at home this season, trail the Rangers by a score of 3–0 at the end of the sixth inning.
