Angels Launch Back-to-Back-to-Back Home Runs, Score 23 Runs in Four Innings vs. Rockies
The Angels’ bats were scorching hot early on against the Rockies on Saturday, taking advantage of the hitter-friendly Coors Field amid L.A.’s roadtrip. The Halos piled on 23 runs in Colorado before the end of the fourth inning, jumping out to an early 23–0 lead.
L.A. scored 13 runs in the third inning alone, with Mike Trout spearheading what ended up being back-to-back-to-back home runs for the Angels, as his solo shot was followed up by homers from Brandon Drury and Matt Thaiss.
It was a short outing for veteran right-hander Chase Anderson, who was tagged for nine earned runs in 2.2 innings of work. Rockies reliever Matt Carasiti surrendered six earned runs while recording just one out after taking over in the third.
The fourth inning saw the Angels slap on eight more runs, all of which were attributed to Rockies reliever Noah Davis, who took over at the start of the frame.
The entire Angels lineup made at least four trips to the plate by the end of the fourth inning, with Taylor Ward and Shohei Ohtani batting five times. By that point, Trout was a perfect 3-for-3 at the plate, with three runs, one RBI and a walk. Meanwhile, Colorado had been held scoreless with just three hits as a team.
