Sports Talk Radio Caller Inspires Homer by Phillies’ Bryce Harper

Phillies star Bryce Harper blasted his 29th home run of the season in Tuesday night’s victory over the Angels, and had an unlikely source of motivation for the home run.

A 94.1 WIP radio listener in Philadelphia.

Sure enough, "Chuck from Mount Airy" was the reason for Harper’s home run, as he fired up the Phillies slugger when he called into the sports talk station on Tuesday afternoon.

“He calls in a lot,” Harper told reporters after the game. “He was talking about our team, talking about me and stuff, and I walked into the training room and was like, ‘I’m going to go deep tonight for Chuck.’ Because that guy had me fired up, man.”

So what did Chuck say on his afternoon call to WIP?

“Bryce, getcha a– down to “Chickie’s & Pete’s” whenever you get a chance, man, and come meet me, and come meet the people that love you,” he said, per The Philadelphia Inquirer. “Because you are the man, and we go where Bryce Harper goes…Bryce Harper might go down as the best Phillie ever. I don’t want to see nobody else win a ring [like] I want to see that guy win a ring.”

Here’s the homer:

Keep calling in Chuck, Harper’s got your back like you have his.
