The Mets 2023 season, which has been filled with lowlights and poor play, continued that trend once again on Tuesday night against the Marlins at LoanDepot Park.
With runners on first and second in the bottom of the fifth inning, Marlins second baseman Xavier Edwards placed a routine sacrifice bunt down the third base line.
Mets starting pitcher Joey Lucchesi field the bunt and fired the ball to third base attempting to get Miami’s lead runner Jon Berti at third base.
However, Lucchesi inexplicably threw the ball to uncovered base easily allowing Berti to score from second, giving the Marlins a 2–1 lead.
Fans on social media were absolutely relentless on yet another mind-boggling error by the Mets this season.
