Miguel Cabrera Had Such a Special Moment With His Parents Before His Final MLB Game
Miguel Cabrera had the support of his family ahead of him playing his final MLB game of his legendary career on Sunday.
Comerica Park went all out for the Tigers designated hitter on Sunday. The Tiger outside of the stadium sported a giant Cabrera jersey, and the outfield showcased a “24” in the middle to honor Cabrera’s number.
Then the pre-game festivities turned in to a family affair for the 12-time All-Star. First, Cabrera’s parents—Miguel Cabrera Sr. and Gregoria Torres—came onto the field ahead of the game to throw out the first pitches to their son. Check out this special moment.
Then, in the first inning when Cabrera approached his first at-bat of the game, his children—Isabella, Christopher and Brisel—announced his name from the booth.
Cabrera officially ends his 21-year MLB career after Sunday’s game vs. the Guardians. He’s playing in his 97th game this season. Ahead of Sunday, Cabrera averaged .260/.324/.355 this season.
