Adolis García’s Walk-Off Homer in Game 1 of the World Series Sent the MLB World Into Hysterics

The Rangers right fielder continued his postseason for the ages.

He is the man of the hour in North American sports—one of the month’s biggest newsmakers, non-Kelce division.

And just when you thought his legend couldn’t expand any more, Rangers right fielder Adolis García—to swipe from Creed—took it higher.

García smacked a walk-off home run to win Game 1 of the World Series Friday evening in the bottom of the 11th inning, giving Texas its first Series victory in 12 years, five days after he was named ALCS MVP.

The two-time All-Star finished the Rangers’ 6–5 triumph over the Diamondbacks 3-for-4, with his final flourish drawing praise from a baseball world he holds in the palm of his hand.

The man of the moment was feted with the meme of the moment.

Video of the Rangers’ ecstatic home crowd flooded the timeline.

The denizens of the Dallas-Fort Worth area celebrated García passing former Cardinals third baseman David Freese—Texas’s conqueror in the 2011 World Series—for most RBIs in a single postseason.

Astros catcher Martin Maldonado, a documented foe of García’s, caught strays.

Some fans linked Texas’s success to the Mavericks’ dramatic win earlier in the evening.

Fans consecrated the game as an instant classic.

Comparisons were made to Lone Star State sports royalty.
