Diamondbacks Unveiled New Uniforms, and Fans Had One Common Complaint
The defending National League pennant winners will have a new look next season.
The Diamondbacks revealed four new uniforms on Friday that will be worn during the 2024 season. The new looks include an off-white home uniform, a gray road set and black and “Sedona Red” alternate jerseys.
The biggest changes are to the home uniform, which was previously pure white with “D-Backs” across the front. The new home uniform is an off-white color, which the team says is closer to what Arizona wore in its inaugural season in 1998, with the franchise’s capital A logo on the chest. The red alternate jersey is the first to feature the full Diamondbacks name since 2000.
There’s a lot to like about the new uniforms. All the combinations are clean and cohesive. They’re an update to the team’s current look with a few tweaks that probably won’t even be noticeable to casual fans. But still, fans had one consistent problem with the announcement: The D-Backs aren’t bringing back their original purple and teal look.
“The 2024 Arizona Diamondbacks uniforms feature the return of retro elements in a bold new fashion with a nod towards tradition,” D-Backs president and CEO Derrick Hall said in a statement. “As always, they were designed with feedback from our avid fan base, via surveys and focus groups, whose love for the Teal combined with Sedona Red makes it uniquely authentic to the Grand Canyon State.”
