Shark Tank Investor at Center of Shohei Ohtani Plane-Tracking Drama Posts Epic Response
Instead of closing business deals or appearing on ABC’s Shark Tank, businessman Robert Herjavec oddly found himself in the middle of the sports world’s biggest story.
MLB Network’s Jon Morosi reported Friday afternoon that superstar free agent Shohei Ohtani was flying from Southern California to Toronto as he decides on his next baseball home.
However, just over an hour later, other reporters revealed that Ohtani was not on a plane heading toward Toronto.
Baseball fans began scrambling for information, and rumors started flying that the plane they were tracking actually belonged to Herjavec, which he confirmed in a humorous post on Instagram.
“I’d like to thank the @bluejays organization for signing me today!” Herjavec wrote on Instagram. “All joking aside—I’m not @shoheiohtani and he was not on my plane today.
“Not sure how it all started but I’m calling the Jays and seeing if they’ll sign my 5-year-old for $600 mil (he WAS on the plane and throws a mean pitch).”
Yes, it’s been a strange day in baseball.
Ohtani has yet to make his decision on which team he will sign what is expected to be the most lucrative contract in North American sports history.
