Andrew McCutchen Uses Epic ‘The Wolf of Wall Street’ Meme to Announce Pirates Return
Veteran MLB outfielder Andrew McCutchen announced Tuesday that he’ll be returning to the Pirates for his 11th season with the franchise in 2024.
The 37-year-old is gearing up for his 16th season in MLB, and rather than make a standard social media post announcing his deal with Pittsburgh, McCutchen took things to a whole different level.
The outfielder shared a popular clip from The Wolf of Wall Street, in which Jordan Belfort, played by Leonardo DiCaprio, announces to his company of adoring employees that he would not be stepping down from his position, or in McCutchen’s case, would be returning to the team for another season.
Fans loved the video McCutchen posted online, and were equally excited to see the former National League MVP announcing he’d be back at PNC Park for another season.
McCutchen played the first 10 years of his career with the Pirates, making five All-Star Games and winning four Silver Sluggers during his tenure with the organization.
McCutchen played for four teams from 2018-22, including the Giants, Yankees, Phillies and Brewers, before returning for a second stint in Pittsburgh in 2023. His announcement on Tuesday confirms he’ll be back for at least another year.
McCutchen sits just one home run shy of 300 for his career, so he should have another reason to celebrate with Pirates fans early into the upcoming season once he achieves that impressive milestone.
