Longtime Cincinnati Reds first baseman Joey Votto was a beloved figure in the Queen City first and foremost because of his play on the field. He made six All-Star teams, hit .294, and energized good and bad Reds teams alike.

However, Cincinnati fans also appreciated how Votto conducted himself off the field. Never one to take himself too seriously, Votto has engaged in endeavors such as competing in chess tournaments and appearing in a children's edition of the musical adaptation of SpongeBob SquarePants.

On Saturday, Votto was up to his old tricks. The Toronto native pulled up to the NHL All-Star Game festivities and proceeded to document his quest to take a selfie with all 32 league mascots on his Instagram story.

"Gonna collect em all," Votto wrote on his Instagram Story with a picture of Blades the Boston Bruin. He added selfies with Hunter, the Edmonton Oilers' lynx, Stormy, the Carolina Hurricanes' hog, and the Philadelphia Flyers‘ reluctant Gritty as he chased down mascots throughout Scotiabank Arena.

If Cincinnati ever does get an NHL team, it seems evident that the franchise and its mascot will have at least one fan.
