The Cleveland Guardians have pushed back the start time of their home opener against the Chicago White Sox so fans could enjoy a solar eclipse a few hours ahead of the game.

The solar eclipse, which hasn’t been seen in Northeast Ohio since 1806, will hit its peak at 3:13 p.m. ET on Monday, April 8. The gates at Progressive Field will open at 2 p.m. ET so fans have an opportunity to view the solar eclipse from inside the stadium.

The game will then start at 5:10 p.m. ET instead of the original start time at 4:10 p.m. This gives the fans enough time to enjoy the solar eclipse, then get ready for baseball.

The decision to move the start time back was partially made because of the expected traffic in downtown Cleveland for people who are traveling to see the solar eclipse, not necessarily for the baseball game.
