New York Mets reliever Yohan Ramírez has been suspended three games for throwing behind the Milwaukee Brewers' Rhys Hoskins, Major Leage Baseball announced on Sunday. Mets manager Carlos Mendoza has been suspended a single game for his part in the situation.

Tensions between the Mets and Brewers escalated on Friday when New York second baseman Jeff McNeil took exception to a hard slide by Hoskins into second base on a potential double-play ball. Both benches emptied with both teams viewing the play differently. Umpires ruled that Hoskins' play was legal.

On Saturday the Mets sought out their revenge when Hoskins came up to the plate in the seventh inning with the Brewers leading 6-2. Ramirez sailed a fastball several feet behind the righthanded batter, who had homered earlier in the day.

Hoskins took exception and Ramirez was ejected from the game. He is appealing his suspension so he'll be available for the season finale out of the bullpen. Mendoza is serving his punishment and will not be on the bench.
