The return of Major League Baseball coincides with the homecoming of baseball's wacky traditions and mid-inning entertainment.

Among the best of the game's storied gimmicks are the Milwaukee Brewers'Famous Racing Sausages, who made their 2024 season debut Tuesday at American Family Field.

As Minnesota Twins outfielder Byron Buxton ran out of the dugout to take the field in the bottom of the sixth, he nearly was clobbered by one of the mascots. Buxton turned his head just in time to notice Brat, Chorizo, Hot Dog, Italian Sausage and Polish Sausage charging down the field. Buxton darted out of the way.

"We said Buck almost got Bratwursted," Twins catcher Ryan Jeffers said to the media after the game (via The Athletic's Dan Hayes).

Buxton avoided the collision, but didn't do enough in the game as the Twins lost to Milwaukee 3–2.

The Twins and Brewers match up again Wednesday to close out their quick two-game series in Milwaukee. You can bet Buxton's head will be on a swivel when the bottom of the sixth inning rolls around in the series finale.
