Mariners-Cubs Game Shrouded in Smoke From Car Fire Outside T-Mobile Park

T-Mobile Park became noticeably smoky during Saturday's game between the Seattle Mariners and the Chicago Cubs, a 4-1 victory for the visiting Cubs. Fans attending the game took to X, formerly known as Twitter, to share images of the smoke surrounding the ballpark, with no apparent reasoning for the haze until clarity arrived in the bottom of the fifth inning.

The Cubs broadcast on Marquee Sports Network featuring play-by-play announcer Jon "Boog" Sciambi, color commentator Jim Deshaies and reporter Taylor McGregor, shared that there was a car on fire on Seattle's State Route 99 just outside of T-Mobile Park.

The broadcast then panned live to footage of a flaming vehicle on the highway.

Smoke from the flaming vehicle, which was headed southbound on State Route 99 near Alaskan Way, made its way up into the ballpark. Here's hoping that there are no injuries associated with this accident.

The Mariners and Cubs will play the final game of their series on Sunday at 4:10 p.m. ET.
