Angels Manager Ron Washington Making Hugely Positive Impact on Anthony Rendon

Entering into the new baseball season, one of the biggest question marks surrounding the Los Angeles Angels was how third baseman Anthony Rendon would fare. Despite being one of the more pricy players on the Angels' payroll, Rendon has been a complete shell of himself as a player since signing with the Halos in 2020.

Injuries and inconsistent play have combined to make his tenure with the Angels very poor but his attitude hasn't helped either. Rendon has been called out numerous times for how he approaches the game, even going as far as to say baseball isn't a priority over the offseason.

But new Angels manager Ron Washington has been working on helping Rendon ease his way back. They have been partaking in infield drills together and it has seemingly helped the veteran infielder. USA Today's Bob Nightengale detailed the positive impact in his latest column.

"Angels manager Ron Washington’s impact on third baseman Anthony Rendon has been remarkable, according to scouts and opposing managers. Rendon, who opened the season in an 0-for-21 slump, is not only hitting .366 since ending the skid, but is one of the first players on the field each day to be part of infield drills with Washington."

Washington was thought to help Rendon, even before it happened. His energy within the clubhouse and history working with infielders led the Halos front office to believe the two could work well together.

Whatever he has been doing with Rendon has been working and for the Angels' sake, hopefully, it can continue.
