Mike Trout Already Made Franchise History in Angels 2024 Season
Mike Trout has already made history this season. During the Los Angeles Angels' 6-4 loss to the Tampa Bay Rays, Trout hit his sixth home run of the season. His six home runs in eleven games is the most home runs in franchise history after eleven games, breaking the previous Angels record.
The previous record for most home runs in the team's first eleven games was five. Trout (2019), Troy Glaus (2001), Tim Salmon (1995 and 1998), and Brian Downing (1987) have all scored five home runs in the Angels' first eleven games, via Angels PR.
Trout is off to a hot start this season. Along with six home runs, Trout has 12 hits, eight runs, and eight RBIs while hitting .293. He's especially on fire right now, having hit a home run in each of his last three games. Trout's personal record is hitting a home run in seven straight games, and the all-time record is hitting a home run in eight consecutive games, which has been achieved by Ken Griffey Jr., Don Mattingly, and Dale Long.
This is especially encouraging after injuries undermined Trout's performance the last few seasons. Trout has missed time over the last three seasons, including playing in just 82 games a season ago due to a fractured left hamate bone. Trout already has one-third of the home runs he put up last season, when he had 18 total.
This is exactly the kind of start the Angels needed from the 11-time All-Star, whose success will give the team as a whole the best chance at winning. The Angels are currently 6-5, with the final game of their current three-game home series against the Tampa Bay Rays on Wednesday.
