2 Angels Pitchers to Miss Beginning of Camp
Spring training is finally here, as pitchers and catchers reported to camp on Tuesday across the league.
Most of the Angels pitchers and catchers reported on Tuesday, but they will be without two pitchers for the start of camp.
Left-handed pitcher José Suarez will miss the first couple days of camp due to a family matter, while the recently-signed right-handed pitcher José Cisnero will be late due to a visa issue, per Sam Blum of The Athletic.
Suarez, 26, has spent his entire five-year career with the Halos. After having strong 2021 and 2022 seasons, he struggled mightily in 2023, sporting an 8.29 ERA across 11 appearances (seven starts).
As for Cisnero, he was signed at the beginning of February to a one-year deal.
The seven-year vet began his career back in 2013 with the Houston Astros. He struggled in 2014, and was out of the league until 2019 when he came back up with the Detroit Tigers.
Cisnero has spent the last five years with Detroit, and turned into a solid reliever, sporting a 3.84 ERA across 255 appearances and 259.1 innings pitched.
Visa issues are not uncommon for players coming back to America for spring training, but hopefully he's able to get it sorted out soon.
