The Los Angeles Angels are reportedly nearing a minor league deal with veteran left-handed pitcher Drew Pomeranz, according to Jeff Fletcher of the Orange County Register.

The deal would include an invite to big league camp, which got underway on Tuesday.

Pomeranz, 35, last pitched with the San Diego Padres back in 2021. he's been battling elbow issues since, and hasn't been able to make a comeback despite his efforts.

When he last pitched in 2021, he was really good, though, sporting a 1.75 ERA in 27 appearances. The year before in 2020, he had an even better 1.45 ERA in 20 appearances. Those were his first two years as a full-time reliever

The 11-year veteran began his career back in 2011 as a starter with the Colorado Rockies. He's also played with the Oakland Athletics, Boston Red Sox, San Francisco Giants and Milwaukee Brewers in his career.

If Pomeranz is healthy, he could prove to be a valuable addition to a much-improved Angels bullpen.

Across 289 career appearances, he has a 3.91 ERA in 858.1 innings pitched. Across 149 career relief appearances, Pomeranz has a 2.42 ERA in 160 innings pitched.
