Angels: General Manager Perry Minasian Has High Hopes for Halos Franchise
The Los Angeles Angels have long been one of the MLB's most disappointing teams. Entering this season, the Angels are tied with the Detroit Tigers for the longest playoff drought in the entire MLB. They haven't reached the postseason since 2014, haven't had a winning season since 2015 and haven't won a postseason game since 2009.
Things haven't exactly gone their way, but it's not for a lack of talent. They've drawn some of the games biggest stars over the last decade, most notably Mike Trout, Shohei Ohtani and Albert Pujols. However, they haven't been able to turn that into success on the field.
This offseason, though, things feel different. Angels general manager Perry Minasian has added tons of talent across the board, and did so at very good value. At last year's media availability, he said he hopes to continue the momentum of this strong offseason into the future.
"We want this place — I want this place — to be a great place to be," Minasian said. "Whether you’re a player. Whether you’re a coach. Whether you work in the minor leagues. Whether you’re a video person. Whether you’re a clubhouse kid."
The Angels have had long-documented issues in the minor leagues, and most recently, had a negative story drop about the disrespect to the Spanish broadcast courtesy of Sam Blum of The Athletic.
However, Minasian wants to change all that, and make this franchise one that's among the most respected in the game of baseball. There are two good ways to do that. First, they should clean up all the issues within the organization. And two, they should win games. Let's see if they can address both those things this offseason.
