The Los Angeles Angels have pretty much gotten through the first quarter of their 2023 season and currently sit a little over .500 with a 24-22 record. As of late, things are looking up as they split a series against the Baltimore Orioles and also snagged their first win against a new series with the Minnesota Twins.

They've have some nice surprises such as Zach Neto and Mickey Moniak stepping up in their first seasons with the squad. LA has had a lot to reflect on from their first stretch of 2023 but it looks like a rhythm is starting to show.

Specifically on the defensive end, they have have been coming up huge in late games all around the field. Mike Trout has still been able to take his scheduled days off and the infield errors are starting to be cut down.

However as a GM, you must never be satisfied especially this early into the season and Perry Minasian knows this all too well. He played a key role in constructing the current roster that the Halos have been throwing onto the field each day and he wants to ensure that they are learning from recent game film.

“There’s been some mental mistakes over the first 45 games that I think have been uncharacteristic to the players we currently have. I’m expecting that to significantly improve.”

Minasian is confident that all of their success will bank getting their defense up.

“Our rotation hasn’t been helped out by our defense,” Minasian said. “If we play better defense, I think our rotation will be better. I think it goes hand in hand. I think our struggles on defense have caused our rotation to have longer innings than they normally should.”(Via The Athletic)

There is no better time for the Angels to continue their momentum over this weekend.
