Angels Injury News: Star Rookie Progressing in Rehab from Major Surgery
Earlier this season, catcher Logan O'Hoppe underwent shoulder surgery after tearing the labrum in his left shoulder. His expected recovery time was between four and six months and it looks like that is still the timeline for the rookie. It remains to be seen if O'Hoope will be able to return this season but he seems to be progressing from the injury.
Angels beat writer Jeff Fletcher provided an update on the status of O'Hoppe below.
This is good news for the Angels and his progress. While he may not return this season, it's a good sign that he is beginning to throw at least. He suffered the injury back in April so he is making good strides in his rehab.
Before the injury, O'Hoppe was one of the bright spots for the Angels early in the season. In 16 games played, he hit.283/.339/.547 (143 OPS+) with four home runs and 13 runs batted in. He was a major contributor for this Angels team and the injury really derailed all the progress and growth he was having.
The team acquired O'Hoppe last season at the trade deadline from the Philadelphia Phillies in exchange for outfielder Brandon Marsh. O'Hoppe is seen as their catcher of the future so hopefully he can get back on the field as soon as possible!
