The Los Angeles Angels have had themselves a nice stretch of baseball recently as they made easy work of the St.Louis Cardinals and have been clicking on all cylinders. Their offense has seen a nice spike as they've shot into the top 10 in most major hitting categories.

Then you take a look at their pitching as well and there is a lot to be excited about. In two big wins over the Cardinals, they allowed just four runs or less and Shohei Ohtani had himself quite the outing with a 13-strike performance.

Then you take a look at the rest of the Halos' pitching staff and Reid Detmers is starting to make a name for himself within the rotation this season. In five games thus far, he is posting a 4.85 ERA with a 1.38 WHIP.

Detmers' most recent performance saw him allow only four runs while striking out six batters. He did not take the pitching mound against the St.Louis Cardinals but his parents were in attendance and his father actually revealed a key component of his game that he taught his now-professional son.

"I taught him the curve when he was a freshman in high school," said Detmers' father. "He picked it up pretty quickly and it was amazing how fast he picked it up. It's been pretty good."

Detmers' dad actually used to suit up for the Cardinals during his own MLB days and spoke on what it was like having his son play for a different franchise.

"It's definitely different, that's for sure," said Detmers' father. "We're used to coming here watching the Cardinals and rooting for the Cardinals but obviously for these three games, we're definitely Angels fans."

Detmers is set to take the mound again on Saturday amidst a huge series against the Texas Rangers.
