Angels 'Logical' Landing Spot for Former MVP, Says NY Post Insider
The Los Angeles Angels have spent their offseason looking to make big upgrades across their roster. After losing two-way superstar Shohei Ohtani to the Los Angeles Dodgers, the Halos have been determined to keep a competitive team going for next season.
The front office has been talking to multiple All-Star level players to see what it would take to bring them to town, but so far, nothing has materialized. The Angels did bring in some relievers to help the bullpen struggles from last year, but they still have a need to improve their lineup.
One name that the Angels have been connected with this offseason is former MVP Cody Bellinger. Bellinger has been looking for a strong contract on the open market, and the Halos are one of the teams involved with potentially landing him.
According to The New York Post's Jon Heyman, the Angels are a logical landing spot for Bellinger.
"The Giants, Mariners and Angels are also logical for Bellinger."
Per Jon Heyman of The New York Post
In 130 games with the Chicago Cubs, Bellinger hit .307 with 26 home runs and 97 runs batted in. He won the National League Comeback Player of the Year Award for his contributions and is now looking to cash in.
He would instantly help the Angels lineup become more potent while giving the team another powerful left-handed bat. Bellinger is familiar with the Southern California scene after spending the majority of his career with the Dodgers.
Bringing in Bellinger would give the Halos another star player to work around, but it remains to be seen if owner Arte Moreno will open the checkbook up. The Halos will do whatever they can to land more talent, and for the sake of the future, hopefully, they can bring in more star power.
