The Los Angeles Angels have had a relatively quiet offseason. They have added a few solid additions to the bullpen, but nothing that would be considered a game-changer.

The front office has spoken to a lot of different players on the open market, including some of the bigger names. This included former free-agent utility player Kiké Hernández before he agreed to re-sign with the Los Angeles Dodgers.

Hernández confirmed that the Angels spoke to him during an appearance on the Foul Territory show. But he mentioned that they never made an official offer.

“The Tigers were very interested. The Angels were there but never really made an offer. The Giants were kind of in there but they were also waiting until the end to make an offer, and they ended up not making an offer. And there was a lot of teams that checked in just to see, they're like, 'Hey time keeps going by and guys are signing for really cheap and we're wondering if he wants to sign for that cheap, too." And I held my ground. I was waiting for the right opportunity."

This is a little disheartening to hear, considering the needs that the Halos have. Hernández isn't a star player, but he could have considerably helped them across the board.

His ability to play all over the field would have given the team major flexibility, and he would bring a fun energy to the clubhouse. But it simply wasn't meant to be. Hernández broke down his decision a little more, saying that fit was most important.

"For me it was all about the fit and the spot. I think it's a very important year for me as far as, you know, healthy for the first time in a while and getting to reestablish my market. It's very important for me to have a good season. And I feel like I'm one of those players who plays better on winning teams, when a team's winning, because of what I can bring to the table."

The Halos can still add to the roster, but with March almost here, they should start finalizing the roster sooner rather than later.
