Angels New Outfield Spark Highlights LA's Depth, Believes They Have No Holes
Time and time again, the Los Angeles Angels have been able to prove that when they work together as a unit and do not solely rely on the stardom of Shohei Ohtani and Mike Trout, they can compete with just about anybody in the MLB.
However, the bigger story this season has been the emergence of numerous offseason additions along with the fearless approach that minor league call-ups have carried with them. I believe that Logan O'Hoppe set the precedent for rookies in LA before he went down with injury with how he excelled in such a big role. Now, you have the likes of Mickey Moniak, Zach Neto, and even Ben Joyce finding consistent roles.
Look no further than LA's huge Wednesday win over the Chicago Cubs on Wednesday. Mike Trout got them rolling with a home run but it was ultimately Moniak and Luis Rengifo who finished the job with some huge plays at the plate and on defense.
Outfield Bonds Growing Stronger
Whenever Moniak does get the start over Taylor Ward, he gets the opportunity to spend a lot of time manning the outfield alongside Trout... not too bad of a person to spend multiple innings with and learn from.
The clubhouse had high spirits following their Wednesday victory and Moniak shined the light on every single person that contributes to their outfield defense.
“The outfield depth in this organization right now is crazy,” Moniak said. “You've got me, Ward, Renfroe, Rengifo,
Mike Trout
and now we have Jo [Adell] here. It's just a testament to the talent that we've got in this organization in the outfield. It’s not like there’s a hole in the lineup if somebody goes down. Everybody can step in and perform and help the team win in their own specific ways.”

Considering that LA has struggled with depth for some years, this is a heavenly sight to see.
