Records are meant to be broken. It’s just a fact in the world of sports and in life. Over the last few years, we have seen some records be broken that nobody ever expected, and it will continue to happen as time goes on.

Last season, New York Yankees slugger Aaron Judge broke the American League record for most home runs in a reason with 62. Many expected that number to stand alone for a while, but we could very well be seeing it taken down yet again this year.

Shohei Ohtani of the Angels is currently on pace to break Judge’s record and if he can do so, it would be incredibly impressive. When asked about the possibility of Ohtani breaking his record just one season after he set it, Judge used the same sentiment that records are meant to be broken.

Judge understands better than anyone just how special and difficult it is to hit that many home runs so if Ohtani can break the record, more power to him. But if Ohtani does break that record, it will be more impressive than what Judge did because of the fact that he is a two-way player.

Not only does Ohtani mash the ball but he pitches at an effective rate as well. Never before in the history of baseball have we seen a player like Ohtani, except for maybe Babe Ruth. So if he can finish the job, it would be indescribable.

Ohtani is currently at 35 home runs for the year so he has some work to do but he has shown that we shouldn't ever doubt his abilities.
