As the Los Angeles Angels continue their season before the MLB trade deadline, they have received some disturbing news regarding one of their star players. Third baseman Anthony Rendon left a game weeks ago with an injury and has been out since.

It has become a common theme for Rendon throughout his tenure with the Angels, and now it seems he will be out longer than expected.

Angels manager Phil Nevin confirmed this and said that the team would likely need to let him rest for a while.

“This is more significant than we actually thought,” Nevin said. “He’s in a lot of pain. We were trying to figure that out and by doing this, getting these images of it, it’s really telling us a lot today. We’re going to have to calm him down for a little while. ... It’s just something that is going to take some time.”

Nevin even added in that there was bleeding inside the bone, and that’s never a good sign.

“There’s some significant bleeding inside the bone,” Manager Phil Nevin said.

The team was banking on the health of Rendon this season, but things just kept going against him. He was hurt earlier in the year with a groin issue, only to come back for a limited time, and now is back to be injured. Rendon has only played in 43 games this season, and the team has missed his production.

“This guy has been in a lot of pain and it has been frustrating not having answers,” Nevin said. “I think (the MRI) gave us a clearer picture of what he has been dealing with. It’s just something that is going to take some time.”

The hope is that they can get Rendon back at some point later in the season. But if the Angels fall out of playoff position, he may as well rest up and come back ready to go next season. It has been a rough few years for Rendon, and this news is just another example of that.
