Angels News: Blue Jays All-Star Pitcher Praises Shohei Ohtani
There are not many superstars in any professional sports league that can handle the constant noise surrounding and still exceed their expectations. Imagine clearly establishing yourself as a top-three MLB player in most fan's eyes, being in trade rumors everyday, and then leading your country to a world championship.
Ohtani just entered his sixth season with the Angels and it's pretty unfortunate to think he's still chasing his first playoff appearance. Everybody was introduced to the amazing show that is Ohtani in competitive game during the WBC and the baseball world is hoping he finally gets that postseason berth despite opposing franchises wanting to add him to their roster.
Through five games in 2023, he has seen 19 at-bats and is slashing .263/.333/.579. His five hits and two home runs thus far are only growing. His opponents continue to show respect to him and praise his dominance year after year. Blue Jays All-Star Alex Manoah joined MLB Network and shared his thoughts about Ohtani.
"I'll keep it real simple," said Manoah. "Last year, we went head-to-head, both threw over 100 pitches. The next day, I'm doing a little workout, arm care, massage and he's out there leading off." (Via MLB Network)
The best superstars in the league showcase durability and consistency over time. Ohtani has been able to do this, unlike his star teammate Mike Trout who usually suffers from injuries most of the time.
We'll have to see if this holds up but expect the same production that comes with his health.
