Talk about a classic showdown between two clubhouses trying to stake their claim as the team to beat in the AL West. Even though the Astros came to LA a bit beat up with some key players on the IL, the Halos knew taking them down would be no easy task but they were able to do so thanks to some big plays late in the game.

In the first game of their series that saw LA win 6-4, the score was never more than two runs for either side. Patrick Sandoval had one of his more forgettable outings this season as he allowed seven hits with all four runs Houston had. Matt Moore and Carlos Estevez, on the other hand, entered the game and made sure that they would score no more.

But Brandon Drury was the man who was able to come up clutch in the biggest inning of the game for the Halos and connect on a huge triple in the eighth that allowed Anthony Rendon to score and put them up 5-4.

Drury had been struggling all year prior this outing and he specifically wasn't able to make good contact with the ball. He is currently slashing .237/.276/.500 and those numbers are bound to only rise after a huge game like this one.

Have a look for yourself at his incredible triple.

Drury has been working nonstop since 2023 started to try and find his power swing again, something he's been known for, and all credit from him went to his hitting coach Marcus Thames after the game.

“Marcus told me to be aggressive,” Drury said, referring to hitting coach Marcus Thames. “He said ‘That’s what works for you, what makes you good.’ So I was being aggressive there and I got a good pitch to hit.”

LA is looking to establish themselves after a poor showcase against the Texas Rangers last weekend and Drury is leading the charge right now.
