After not playing a game in the 2023 season, the Angels have officially closed the book on Max Stassi's season.

The catcher has been placed on the restricted list and will not be eligible to return this season. Stassi has volunteered to go on the list after a serious family medical issue has arisen.

Stassi was originally not playing this year after suffering a strained left hip in spring training.

He was transferred from the 10-day IL to the 60-day in June.

Stassi was on the road to a comeback and has let it be known that his health is not in any danger.

The catcher is ready to resume baseball activities and get back to the Angels.

The front office of the Angels did not such many else details about Stassi's situation. Out of respect for his family, the team's Public Relations department kept its statement short.

The 10-year veteran is in his fifth year in Los Angeles. In his career with the Astros and Angels, he has hit .212 with an OPS+ of 80.

The Angels are hoping that the Stassi family situation will get better so they can get one of its most reliable catchers back in the lineup for the 2024 season.
