Angels News: Despite Lingering Finger Issue, Shohei Ohtani Appears On Track for Next Start
The Angels have been dealing with all sorts of injures of late but they seem to have avoided a major one to their best player. Two-way superstar Shohei Ohtani has been dealing with some blister issues but he seems okay to keep pitching.
He re-aggravated the injury prior to the All-Star break and in his start since the break, he was removed early once again. But the blister issue remains something he will deal with, and he looks on track to make his next start.
Ohtani was going to try and go against the Yankees on Wednesday but now he is the probable pitcher for the team's game against the Pittsburgh Pirates at home on Friday. This allows some extra rest for the superstar to heal up and get it corrected.
Ohtani spoke on the issue and how it has hampered his performance of late.
“Haven’t really talked about when my next outing is,” Ohtani said. “Just kinda gonna come to the field and see where my finger’s at. Think we’ll go from there.”
Thankfully Ohtani avoided major injury here and he can continue to play. He is the biggest show in baseball so anytime that he would miss due to injury would be hard to stomach.
The Angels need him available as they try to get back into contention. Right now, they are inching back into the final wild card spot in the American League and they don't have time to waste.
They won a few games over the New York Yankees and will look to keep things rolling against the Pirates this weekend.
