Angels News: Division Rival Believes They're The Team to Beat in AL West
Through 50 games into the season, your Los Angeles Angels are playing some decent baseball. The Halos are four games above .500, and although we're in late May, they only sit 1.5 games back of the final wild-card spot in the American League.
The Angels plan to seek their first playoff appearance since 2014, and they'll have to do it in a loaded AL West. Los Angeles improved their team this off-season but so did the rest of the teams in their division, including the AL West-leading Texas Rangers. As of May 24, the Rangers sit at the top of the AL West with a 31-18 with no signs of slowing down.
With the Houston Astros still a great team and the defending champions, the Rangers are making a case to be the team to beat as Texas first baseman Nathaniel Lowe says his team is the team to beat in the AL West.
The Rangers are making a case, but don't sleep on the Angels as well. They're only 4.5 games in back of the Rangers with 112 games left in the series. The Halos faced the Rangers earlier in the season at home in a three-game where they only grabbed one and gave up 30 runs.
Nonetheless, if the Angels stay healthy with Shohei Ohtani and Mike Trout leading the charge, LA will be a force to be reckoned with. Anaheim has the talent at its disposal, and their job might not be done if they decide to be active in the trade deadline. A ton can happen from now till October, but expect the Angels to be in the thick of things.
