Angels News: Expert Believes LA Should Look to Make Huge Moves at Trade Deadline
Starting pitching a concern, also looking for unicorns?
In this story:
The MLB All-Star Game is just around the corner, and just after that, the trade deadline rolls its way into the season. A lot of big names could be on the move like every other year, here's what one columnist thinks the Angels need
As far as needs go? A starting pitcher. Maybe two. And a first baseman. Go all-in. Unicorns don't grow on trees.

Some names that could be on the move?
- Jo Adell - A change of scenery might be enough to give him every day playing reps in the majors. This season at AAA Salt Lake, he mashed 19 home runs in the first half of the season, a new team who needs outfield help might just give him a chance to be an every day player.
- Jared Walsh - He might be included in a package to get a top of the line starting pitcher, and the Angels need a change of pace at first base. He's hitting .125 on the year, and the Angels could move his $2.65 million in salary to clear space for a big name
- Griffin Canning - Another one that might be included in a package for a big name pitcher, he slots in at a 4-5 starter, but on a different team, he might be a 2-3 starter in their rotation.
Some names that might make their way to the Angels?
- Lucas Giolito - This would be a homecoming for Giolito, who went to Harvard-Westlake High School. He's on the last year of his deal with the White Sox, and the White Sox could pull off a trade to get something for him before losing him in free agency.
- Jack Flaherty - Another homecoming, and actually Giolito's high school teammate. This would definitely fill that need in starting pitching.
