Angels News: Griffin Canning Overcame Huge Weakness In Tuesday's Win
Two wins to start of the week for your Los Angeles... it can't get much better than that. We were able to witness Mickey Moniak start off the night with a home run once again, Mike Trout send his own out of the park as well, and Griffin Canning put an end to his rough streak of pitching starts.
Everybody was super pleased to see Canning back on the mound after so much time missed with injury but the results had not been the best thus far. He entered Tuesday's match against the Boston Red Sox with a 6.14 ERA but only allowed two hits and one run in seven innings and it is now down to 4.05.
LA was able to prevail 4-0 as their offense produced enough runs and Canning took care of his business on his end.
The Halos continue an amazing stretch of baseball in which they have only lost one game out of their past six. Their batting depth has been showing up and taking stress off of their superstars so their lineup has been lethal all around.
But they've also been getting some quality starts from their pitchers and the bullpen hasn't had to worry much either when they step up to the mound.
Canning was well-aware of the sluggers that he was going to be facing on the Red Sox, specifically with many of them being lefties. He made sure to prioritize his curveball for the first time this year in order to keep them guessing.
“I think facing that many lefties, it was just something I was going to need to use a lot,” said Canning. “Fortunately, I had a good feel for it tonight, so that's why I went to it a lot. I pride myself on feeling the rhythm of the game and knowing what pitch to throw in certain situations.”

One more game to go against the Boston Red Sox and it will be Tyler Anderson taking the mound to start this time with a 5.27 ERA.
