The Los Angeles Angels are heading into Atlanta on Monday where they'll try to continue their winning form against the NL East leading Braves.

It'll be a test of a three set, being on the road against one of the top teams in baseball, and the Halos will have to begin the series absent starting pitcher Griffin Canning, who was scratched from his scheduled start shortly before the opener with "general soreness," per Angels writer Rhett Bollinger.

Canning has had a respectable season for the Halos, posting a 4.46 ERA on the year so far.

He pitched well his last time out when he held the Detroit Tigers to two runs on seven hits over five innings with eight strikeouts in an Angels win, but his recovery from that start hasn't gone as planned, leading to his missed start in Georgia.

Chase Silseth will make the spot start for Los Angeles, a role he's become fairly familiar with filling recently.

The 23-year-old right-hander has a 4.44 ERA on the season through 10 total appearances including a pair of starts.

His last start went well, when he held the New York Yankees to one run over 5 2/3 innings and recorded 10 strikeouts on July 19.

He'll try to replicate that success again for an Angels team that finds themselves very much in the wild card race after going 10-5 to begin the second half of their season. At pregame Monday, the Halos are four games back from the final wild card spot in the American League.

First pitch of Monday's Angels vs. Braves is scheduled for 4:20 PM and you can watch the game on Bally Sports West.
