Angels News: Halos Among Ben Verlander's Top Winners of the Offseason
The Angels have had a pretty impressive offseason. They haven't made a huge splash, but they've done exactly what GM Perry Minasian wanted to do, in raising the floor and adding depth all over the infield and outfield.
Each addition should make a big impact next offseason, and came at pretty affordable prices. I've personally pegged Tyler Anderson to be the steal of the offseason.
However, I'm not the only person impressed with what they've done. FOX Sports' Ben Verlander ranked his top five biggest offseason winners, and had the Halos at No. 5 on the list.
The Halos were the only non-playoff team on the list, which shows how much they worked this offseason to try to compete with baseball's best teams.
The Angels' AL West foe, the Houston Astros, are ahead of the Halos on Verlander's list at No. 3, but I don't think many people are expecting the Angels to overtake them in the division. The goal should be for the Halos to make the postseason via the Wild Card, and they've definitely done more than enough this offseason to make that a possibility.
The Angels have made the big splash in the past, and it usually didn't pan out. This offseason, they took a different approach, so Angels fans should be excited to see how it turns out.
