The Los Angeles Angels made a couple roster moves on Friday ahead of their series opener against the New York Mets.

The team officially placed outfielder Mike Trout back on the injured list with his left hamate fracture, and recalled outfielder Trey Cabbage from Triple-A Salt Lake to replace him.

But that wasn't the only move.

The team also placed catcher Matt Thaiss on the injured list with right shoulder inflammation, retroactive to August 24. To replace him, the team brought back catcher Chad Wallach.

To make room on the 40-man roster for the recently-DFA'd Wallach, RHP Chris Devenski returned from his rehab assignment, was reinstated to the injured list and was then designated for assignment.

Cabbage appeared in 12 games for the Halos this season, hitting .206 with one home run and six runs batted in. He's been dominating in Triple-A, though, and will hope to bring some of that to the big-league level. At Triple-A this year, Cabbage is slashing .307/.372/.595 with 27 home runs, 81 RBIs and an OPS of .967.

As for Wallach, he was DFA'd when catcher Logan O'Hoppe was reinstated from the IL, but wasn't claimed off waivers and was sent outright to Triple-A. Now, with Thaiss out, he's back on the big-league roster to back up O'Hoppe.

On the year, Wallach is hitting .209 with seven home runs and 13 runs batted in.

In 11 games at Triple-A, Wallach dominated, slashing .361/.442/.556 with two home runs, eight RBIs and an OPS of .998.
