Angels News: Halos Closer Isn't Thinking Too Much About Potential All-Star Selection
The Los Angeles Angels have had a good start to the season, considering how their 2022 season ended. This season seems different, and the Halos are primed to break their playoff drought this season. It will be at the hands of their superstars Shohei Ohtani and Mike Trout; however, they'll need the other guys to do their role, and as of late, they have.
Ohtani is certainly doing his part, putting up another MVP season, and earned his third All-Star selection of his career. He will represent the Halos in Seattle for the mid-summer classic, but hopefully, he isn't the only Angel besides Ohtani and Trout. Angels closer Carlos Estévez is making his case to earn his first All-Star selection.
The 30-year-old is having a career year; however, All-Star bid or no All-Star bid, Carlos isn't letting that get in the way of his play. Estévez was asked if he's thinking about it, and this is what he said.
“Of course I have, but at the same time I never expect more from anything,” he said. “Because if it doesn’t happen, I’m not gonna be disappointed. But at the same time, it would be amazing to go. Who says they wouldn’t like to go? One chance to go would be amazing.”

The righty closer is having a career year, posting a 1.74 ERA with a 1-1 record, 40 strikeouts, a 1.19 WHIP, holding hitters to a .188 average, and is sixth in saves with 19 in 32 appearances.
This is by far his best season as a pro after six seasons in Colorado, where he struggled mightily. That's all behind the righty, who is showing that it's never too late to find himself, and we're happy he's doing it as a Halo.
We all expect to see Estévez make an appearance in Seattle come mid-July.
