It has been a strange year for the Angels. They had hoped this would be the year to reach the postseason, but as of right now, things aren’t looking great.

The team still has Shohei Ohtani amid a historic year, but it hasn’t resulted in wins on the field. They find themselves multiple games back of a playoff spot and will need to start winning games quickly to get back into contention.

Even with all the struggles and injuries that the team has seen, they could be getting some positive news soon. Star outfielder Mike Trout has been on the injured list for a while but could be returning soon.

It would be a promising return for this team as they fight for their postseason lives. General Manager Perry Minasian recently provided an update on the injured star.

And yet, even with the struggles of the season, the Angels front office hasn’t lost their support of Manager Phil Nevin. General Manager Perry Minasian threw his support to Nevin recently.

“We’re taking it day by day,” Minasian said. “Hopefully sooner than later. You can’t push it. It’s a pain tolerance thing. It’s a significant injury that takes time. He knows where we’re at and what we’re playing for. And trust me, he’d love to come back today. When he’s healthy and when he knows he can he can perform and when he’s ready to play, he’ll be the first one to say ‘Hey, I’m ready to go.’”

It’s a positive update, and we could see Trout back within the next week or two hopefully. The Angels desperately need him back in their lineup.

Minasian still believes in this team, and Trout returning soon has to factor into that. He spoke on the rest of the season as well.

“As good as things are, they can change really quick,” he said. “As bad as things are, they can change really quick. We’ve seen that throughout the year. For us, the most important thing is to understand how important today is and do what we need to do to win a game.”

Per The OC Register

It’ll be an uphill battle to reach the postseason, but anything is possible. Their chances may be slim, but as long as there are games left, the Angels do have a chance to get in.
