Angels News: Halos Make Biggest Jump in MLB’s Post-Deadline Power Rankings

MLB.com has come out with its latest power rankings for teams after the trade deadline, and the Halos took a big jump after multiple big moves by the ballclub.
With massive additions of Lucas Giolito, C.J. Cron, and Randal Grichuk the Angels are looking to make a push for the playoffs. The MLB noticed this buy on the deadline and thus caused a massive jump in power rankings.
"The Angels leapt five spots, all the way up to No. 12. If they’re still in that spot come the end of the season, it will all have been worth it."

Sitting at a record just over .500, the team from Anaheim is likely not going to win the AL West. Being seven games behind the division leaders in the Texas Rangers, a shot at the division title is far-fetched.
However, a Wild Card spot is much more attainable. Only 3.5 games behind the final Wild Card spot, a good stretch of games from the Halos will most likely launch them into a postseason game.
This aggressive deadline from the Angels is the response to Shohei Ohtani's desires to win baseball games with the Halos. Ohtani is going to be a free agent at the end of the season and will sign the largest contract in MLB history — what team signs him is the biggest question mark.
A postseason push from the club will help their odds at the Ohtani sweepstakes and set up a winning culture.
While the team's big pitching addition isn't panning out too well right now, the bats added before the deadline are already making an impact.
Randal Grichuk homered in his first game for the Angels and looks to replace the corner outfield spot that Taylor Ward leaves as he went on the 60-day IL after being hit in the face with a fastball.
With just over 50 games left for the Halos, the team will look to win around two-thirds of their games to solidify a playoff spot so fans can finally see Ohtani and Trout in a playoff baseball environment.
