Wow, the Los Angeles Angels continue to shock the baseball world with their minor league call-ups. First it was Zach Neto who was added to the major league roster after just over 40 games to his name in single-A and AA and now they are going to be giving a chance to an outfielder that once had all the hype any prospect could as for.

Mickey Moniak first broke onto the scene in 2016 and the Philadelphia Phillies went all in on him with the number one pick in the draft. His MLB career has not panned out anywhere near what analysts had initially perceived but thanks to the Halos, he will be back on the biggest stage.

USA Today's Bob Nightengale was the first to break the news that LA opted to call up Monica on Friday just before their 4:10 pm matchup against the Cleveland Guardians.

"Mickey Moniak, the former No. 1 pick in the 2016 draft by the

#Phillies

, is back in the major leagues. He's being called up by the

#Angels

."

Moniak first joined the franchise in 2022 thanks to a trade with the Phillies that saw the Halos part ways with Noah Sydnergaard. He was given a big role and platform during Spring Training to try and fight for a roster spot but he ultimately got placed in the Salt Lake Bees to start off the year.

However, he has finally looked like he is putting all of his tools together thanks to a great recent stretch of baseball. In 33 games with the Bees, he was ale to slash .308/.355/.585 and was able to bomb eight home runs.

We wish him the best of luck with his new Major League stint.
