Angels News: Halos Part Ways With Assistant GM, Perry Minasian's 'Right-Hand Man'

This is a big development in Anaheim.

The Los Angeles Angels and assistant general manager Alex Tamin have reportedly parted ways. ESPN's Alden Gonzalez reported the news.

Tamin was known as general manager Perry Minasian's right-hand man, and was responsible for tons of the decision-making that occurred for the Halos.

In Joe Maddon's book that came out last year following his firing from the Angels, he talked a lot about Tamin's bullpen usage algorithm. Tamin clearly had a lot to do with the decision-making regarding the Angels' relievers, and Minasian trusted him for tons of important decisions.

Tamin, who worked with Minasian in Atlanta, was hired in 2020 when Minasian got the GM job. He and Minasian have worked closely together for years.

Clearly, the Angels knew they needed to make changes, and Minasian was not going to be the one that fell on the sword. So, instead the Angels decided to relieve his right-hand man of his duties, as the Halos look to somehow get back into contention in 2024.

The Angels have the longest playoff drought and longest playoff win drought in baseball right now, stretching back to 2014 and 2009, respectively.

They needed to make changes, and so far, they've come with letting go of manager Phil Nevin and assistant GM Alex Tamin.
