At a young age, Zach Neto has already been given one of the biggest responsibilities compared to anybody in the MLB. He is being asked to leadoff a batting lineup with Shohei Ohtani and Mike Trout right behind him.

However, any Angels fan knows that Neto has yet to back down from any challenge in his first official MLB season. He was the fastest prospect from his 2022 draft class to be called up to the big league roster and quickly found his place within the team. Despite the team's initial plans to have him towards the bottom of the lineup, he was thrust into the leadoff spot by game two.

Neto is currently slashing .236/..329/.292 and is growing more comfortable every time he faces a big league pitcher. He has also made some huge plays at shortstop and is becoming an easy fan favorite.

Some may look at the Angels a bit odd for relying on someone the just drafted to take on such important roles within the clubhouse but Neto is not your average 22-year-old. He's been very honest about his transition process and he loves starting the Halos off at the plate.

"I'm feeling pretty comfortable," said Neto. "Just doing anything I can to get on base for Trout and Ohtani. It's one of those things where you want to start the game on the right page, set the right tone by having a good, quality at-bat. I'm seeing a lot of pitches and getting on base for those guys. Trying to see as many pitches as I can but be as aggressive as possible."

Neto will continue to bring this firepower against this series against Houston Astros kicking off today!
