Anthony Rendon may very well become the player that either makes or breaks the Los Angeles Angels this season. It's very obvious that you have the two superstars leading the charge with Shohei Ohtani and Mike Trout and then you have other guys such as Gio Urshela and Taylor Ward who have been given opportunities to produce offense and have been able to do so.

But with Rendon's talent and paycheck, the expectations for him are higher than just garner some hits here and there and bring runners on base in. Unfortunately, he has yet to connect on a single dinger this season and his slugging percentage sits at .296.

His start to 2023 was not ideal with the whole Oakland A's fan altercation along with missing some time due to getting hit by a pitch but he is now in prime position to remind everybody why LA paid him to be that third star of the franchise.

Luckily for the 32-year-old infielder, the franchise is long from giving up on him. Team manager Phil Nevin has assured that his slugging will return very soon and that he is showing all signs of it.

“I do think the power’s coming,” Nevin said. “We saw it in spring training. I’ve seen his hips and hands a little more loose and free the past five or six games. Everyone keeps saying he’s going to get one here, get one there. He just missed a couple in Milwaukee. I’m not worried about it.”

There is so many factors particularly in this season that have been affecting the most talented swingers around the league. The pitch clock has brought forth mental and physical adjustments that can't even be explained at times.

Angels GM Perry Minasian has echoed these thoughts about Rendon being just fine.

“Anthony’s been very productive in certain situations, as far as doing the little things,” said Angels general manager Perry Minasian. “I think he’s been pretty good with runners in scoring position, man on third less than two outs. His base running’s been excellent.”
