Friday night's loss against the Toronto Blue Jays was embarrassing for the Los Angeles Angels for a multitude of reasons. They finally got to play a regular season game in their home stadium for the first time in 2023 and came up short, the bullpen failed to hold onto their lead, and the offensive gameplay was nonexistent.

Mike Trout's home run in the first inning had a sell-out crowd thinking that this was bout to be another 13-run game for them. However, outside of Trout, Shohei Ohtani recorded a double and a single and those were the only hits the Angels got as a team. Nobody else besides the two MVP's saw any form of success at the plate.

Jokes are always made about how the Angels rely on these two generational talents but it's getting really bad if it's resulting in them making the history books in the process. And I'm sure that with all of the records both of them own, this is not one they'll be bragging about to their kids.

"The Angels are the first MLB team to have a pair of former MVPs (Shohei Ohtani, Mike Trout) each get an extra-base hit but have the rest of the team go hitless since the Yankees did it with Mickey Mantle and Roger Maris on May 6, 1962."

For what it's worth, the Angels have seen a number of guys step up and contribute this season such as Logan O'Hoppe and Taylor Ward. However, it is days like these where they will all have to improve as a collective group knowing what it is at stake.
