As the year has gone on, the Angels season has gone from hopeful to disappointing very quickly. At one point, they were in a position to finally break their long playoff drought, but just a few weeks later, they were out of the playoff picture.

Injuries and inconsistencies throughout the year caused this team to fall in the standings, and they haven’t been able to get back. It has the look of another wasted season for this franchise, and they will be heading into the offseason with some big questions.

One of those will be whether or not manager Phil Nevin returns to the team. Jeff Fletcher of the Orange County Register gave some insight into his thoughts on what the team will do with Nevin this winter.

“Nevin does not have a contract for next season. Even though Nevin seems to be well-liked in the clubhouse, this is a results-oriented business. If the Angels play well down the stretch, even if they ultimately come up short of the playoffs, it would certainly help his case to return. If they limp across the finish line, a change is likely.”

Per The OC Register

The Angels have fallen almost completely out of the playoff picture, and they don’t seem to be climbing back. Unless they have a miraculous turnaround, they will miss the postseason again. But it sounds like Nevin could return with a small push in the final month of the year.

It would make some sense to move on from Nevin, so the team can start fresh. Their roster could look very different next season, so bringing in a new manager may be the best option here.

“As for the coaches, teams have coaching staff changes all the time, even good teams, so there certainly could be some shuffling after this season.”

Per The OC Register

The offseason for the Angels should be one of the more interesting ones across the league. They have major things to work on and need to start building for the future.
