Former first-round pick Jo Adell put Angels fans into a frenzy when he removed the mention of the Halos from his Instagram bio after they signed OF Brett Phillips to a one-year, major league deal.

The addition of Phillips all but ended Adell's hopes of making the Opening Day roster, and many fans speculated that he was offended by the move, thus wiping them from his social media.

At spring training, Adell caught up with Jeff Fletcher of the Orange County Register, and was asked about the decision to remove the team from his Instagram. Here's what he said.

"It’s motivation to make the team every year," Adell said. "You don’t have the job till you’ve got it."

Whether this is the full truth or not, it is nice to see that Adell is motivated to make the team next season. Even with the addition of Phillips, Adell knows that he has the talent to help this team win games — and his general manager, Perry Minasian, agrees.

Adell is unlikely to start the season on the Opening Day roster barring an injury, but he will definitely have the chance to prove himself in Triple-A, and be the first person called up if someone gets hurt or struggles to fill their role. And when that day comes, Adell better be ready.
