Angels News: LA's Offense Continues to be Most Improved in 2023 Season
The Los Angeles Angels had a tough weekend series against the Miami Marlins, getting swept at home despite having the talented Shohei Ohtani on the mound on Saturday night. However, they are determined to bounce back as they hit the road for a seven-game road trip. Currently, the Angels are two games above .500 and are ranked at the number 13 spot according to the MLB power rankings by The Athletic.
The reason for this is due to their continued offensive improvements. Although it may not jump out the page, The Atheltic MLB Staff have noticed and left the Halos in the top half of the rankings.

were a tricky team for this exercise. In almost every stat I sorted, Los Angeles fell somewhere in the middle. Ain’t that always been the story of the Angels? Except this year, they’re actually a winning club with a reasonable shot at the postseason. Why? Maybe because they are MLB’s most-improved offense. In addition to owning the biggest jump in batting average, they also own MLB’s largest gains in hard-hit rate (+6.5 percentage points) and exit velo (+1.8 mph). They have gained more than any AL team in the categories of strikeout rate (-3.1 percentage points) and expected on-base percentage (+0.028). The stars have been the stars, but the Angels are getting better contributions from others on the roster,

Their hard-hit rate and exit velocity show they are making solid contact with the ball. Additionally, their strikeout rate is lower than other American League teams, which is a positive sign.
The front office deserves credit for their diligent work in the offseason. They have made significant efforts to improve the team in hopes of finally reaching the postseason, a feat they haven't accomplished since 2014. The Angels have a strong foundation, with superstars like Shohei Ohtani and Mike Trout leading the way. However, for success to be sustained, it will be crucial for the supporting cast to step up and lead the charge on some nights.
It won't be easy for the Halos as they find themselves in a tough division and league, but if they remain healthy and play great baseball, we will finally see two of the best players in baseball on the biggest stage.
